Seems to be reasonable. I turn mine off after every reading session, and, a week after last charging it, the battery gauge is still almost full (that's with about 10-12h actual usage). I don't know how good it would be if I just used the "standby" mode; it boots sufficiently quickly (about 25s) that it's not an issue for me.
Of course, if you switch on the WiFi and use it for web browsing, it drains the battery in a few hours, but that's what you'd expect - WiFi is "power hungry", and I leave it switched off.
