The big thing with E-ink is the long battery life and the fact that it is very easy on the eyes if you happen to like to read in bright sun or have a 60 watt bulb right behind you lighting the screen. The E-ink screen is very hard on the eyes if you don't have a good light source illuminating the screen because the contrast is very low.
I've retired my Sony Reader in favor of the iPhone for a couple of reasons. The iPhone is easier on the eyes even in poor lighting and the reader apps are more advanced than what my Sony Reader can do.
