For a narrow focus usage like that you don't need much in the way of an OS, however, when it comes to a touch pad computer for general use including entertainment, multimedia, home accounting, etc., the future of flash is probably assured.

Flash, for good or ill, has a LOT of inertia and getting the industry to shift to a new tool will take a lot of time, effort, and money.
