I can think of one. Sony has been trying to make inroads with the mainstream publishers in order to expand the availability of content. They did a lot of face-to-face dealing with the publishing houses in setting up the online bookstore.

The larger the number of readers out in the wild, the more bargaining power they have with content providers.
