Ha, ha! Great story!

I've been trying acquire an extra 505 for myself (I travel a lot) and one for my wife and father (as gifts). Let me tell you I fear very much damaging my current reader, because every working 505 I've seen for sale on eBay has sold for what I paid, new, for my device, or even significantly more than what I originally paid!

It's a device that seems to have been one of my wife's better investments (she bought it as a birthday gift for me as I love gadgets and reading). While the Sony site, and other ebook sites, and I do a regular thriving business where I send them money for a large set of ones and zeros to keep me entertained, my local brick and mortar Barnes and Noble isn't quite as happy about the situation, as instead of my yearly B&N gift card, I get a Sony eBook gift card instead.

Anyway, I won't consider any newer model as I understand that the newer models actually support fewer file formats, and the only way to get more media formats supported (at least at this time) would be to buy a netbook (yuck).
