So you got the reader to open a .html document or did you repackage it into another ePub document?

I don't know what is going on in your case, but when I made a web page with mixed asian and english characters, the asian characters would not show up correctly unless I included some meta information in header to indicate the character set of the page. Perhaps something similar is missing from the original epub document. Also, I would suspect the dr800's ePub and HTML viewers are completely separate programs, with the former from adobe and the latter from webkit and there is a bug in one of them.
