I may be wrong, but it is my understanding the costs given in these tear downs is the total cost of the individual components. It is not the cost of actually making the product. In other words Apple paid that much money to buy the components that go into an iPad, but it is not their actual manufacturing cost of the final product, shipping....etc....
Like I said, I may be wrong, but I don't see where it says that is the total manufacturing cost.
And yes Harry053, for whatever reason Apple products hold their value much better than the average HP, Dell...etc.
