I'd think the 900 is the right choice for these reasons: you can get back and use the travel guides you bought from Sony before. Sony ditched their proprietary DRM and have switched to Adobe DE, and the DRM is strippable on that. You can also get library books, and from what I understand it handles PDFs nicely.
Of course, the screen isn't much better than the 700. I would try and take a look at it in person if you can.
