Surprised nobody's mentioned text to speech. I use it all the time on my Kindle and then I can resume reading the regular way without losing my place when I am ready. For example, I can walk to the subway and have it read to me, then when I get on the subway and get settled, turn off the voice and read the regular way. Best of both worlds.
