Certainly there may have been - I don't really pay much mind to community attitudes except for a portion of guidance on what to read rather than what I have read. But I guess you could say my feelings were on the sweet side to the sour in the mix. It's my favourite Dan Simmons, up there in my all-times, almost to the point where the subsequent books were superfluous (again, like Neverness).
