Hi & welcome to MR. I myself decided against the Kindle due to the limitations on downloads and capturing of audience (maybe I didn't do enough research). I am very happy with the Sony and have not had any problems on getting books from various sources. Calibre is a good tool to change the format of eBooks however the addition of DRMs might limit you a bit there (unless you start stripping that of).
