Actually, there is a whole new movement of the paleolithic diet (caveman diet) that is getting steam. basically it talks about eating natural and raw food rather than all the processed sugar and carbs that most people eat today which many think is what causes so many of today's modern diseases like arteriosclerosis and diabetes.
Granted I don't think they advocate raw meat.

I have actually unintentionally eaten that way my whole life anyway. including raw meat! fast food happens maybe twice a year, I don't buy pre-prepared foods; canned, dried or frozen. even when I had a house full of kids and worked construction, everything was home made and from scratch. my daughter is living proof of how this works. she left home, eats crap and put on 150lbs (my former athlete in training)
