That's why I said it was terrifying. That someone so lucid and cogent could make a decision such as this. And it wasn't just his problems, but a problem he saw with the whole system that prompted his action, again a terrifying outcome from what seems an otherwise intelligent person (at face value).

EDIT: And what I find even more terrifying is that his opinions aren't out-of-the-ordinary. He's not a religious zealot or a fundamentalist nutball who thinks the 'End Times' are nigh or that he'll receive <insert no of Virgins here> once he gets to heaven. He's basically railing against taxes and the government. His complaints aren't unreasonable, even if his actions are totally reprehensible. Which makes me wonder how many of the people I know, or how many of the people we all know are capable of such actions. What was it that made him take that extra step out of anger and annoyance and into mass murder/suicide? What does it take, and how many more of these will occur in the coming years?
