Well! A sign of infection would have been something you can fight but hearing loss? That's awfull!
I've been fighting loud noise sources all my life. First with the loud playing in rock groups and next with the woodworking machines. I'm not doing badly.
Your case is rather strange, does it mean your new violin is too loud? The left ear is right next to it.
