I've fired doctors before for just such practices.
I can tolerate an occassional reasonable delay, but chronic overbooking or other poor time management is unacceptable. Everyone's time is valuable, including the patient.
And when the office staff totally ignores the fact that you haven't been informed of any reason for the excessive delay while they cackle to each other instead, well, that's just rude and unprofessional. I won't be back.
