I have not seen the PRS-300 in person, but since it doesn't have a touch screen it will have much less glare than the PRS-600 (which I own). The glare can get annoying but most of the time it doesn't bother me. I've also never owned a different reader so I can't really compare.

If you don't care about a touch screen or expandable memory then you probably don't need to spend the extra money on the 600.

Even on the 600 with the slightly larger screen, PDFs can be awkward. I've never tried reading any kind of periodical on it; I only use it for novels.

If you can see both devices in person that would be ideal.
