That's the question.
I really hope that's not the case. I you lose the ecosystem you lose the Android advantage. Then again Android it's already pretty fragmented.

I guess they will release a custom skin (like HTC does).
They want to do some custom things with user interaction, involving gestures and accelerometers....
I guess that's why they want to release their own SDK...
As the Android code gets more tablet friendly this will no longer be an issue.

Anyway, they know that app and content distribution will be really important, they are expected to compete with Apple.
