I've been playing around with this today. It works very well. Thank you

In case it's helpful to anyone else, I found it on my Windows XP machine in
C:\Program Files\Calibre\resources\catalog\stylesheet.css

... I guess it's possible that a future release of Calibre would overwrite your personalised CSS file so you would need to take steps to remember what you changed.
