No idea how I started. I recall having gone through a few books in early elementary school as per teacher recommendations (James and the Giant Peach, an abridged copy of Tom Sawyer, and the Hobbit stick out in my vague memory), but the first fiction book I got really excited about reading was Jurassic Park around 1990-1991.

Spent much of my early childhood in a small library for various reasons, so I also tried to read a lot of children's books, none of which I can remember, and also nonfiction stuff, mostly about animals and basic sciences.
