Fiddling and/or step/tap dancing is a tradition in many families all across Canada and they have their unique styles within certain regions. A bit of artistic license and stage drama was added by the director in using the punk rockers with their tattoos. The tattoos were of indigenous people's design and the punk rock version may have originated with the final fiddle player, Ashley MacIssac (one of our favourites), from his earlier days. They finished that segment with his The Devil in the Kitchen.

You should know, and probably do, that generally any "WTF!" moment from me is almost certainly a sign of sincere and utter admiration.

I enjoyed all of the songs showcasing our Canadian talent, with the exception of the rendition of our national anthem.

It was all good...except Bryan Adams. Because I hate Bryan Adams. Nearly as much as I hate Barry Manilow. No rational thought will get past that, WDE. The woman he was standing next to, however, well, she was perfectly darling.

They represented the speed skaters and cross-country skiers if you watched the movement of their arms. This being an inside event, with no ice, I guess they had to go with wheels to represent both. The trails, I guess, were to show the speed, or induce flashbacks.

They were awesome. TRON is a good thing.

I take it by "bear poet" you mean Shane Koyczan and his slam poetry "We Are More".

Yessum, that's the one. The large, bearish lad. Enjoyed that bit no-end.

Was that before or after kd lang's rendition of Hallelujah.

It must have been before...bastiches. Oh, well...I've long had Hymns of the 49th Parallel so I'll just spin that up and use my imagination.

Ugh, I used to hate them. Sure, Mister Trainer person, get me to unbuckle my mid-entry boots front-and-back and do fast GS turns to learn balance...that was fun...but please, please don't make me go down that mogul field. I'll pay you $50 to just say I did.
