I must be mis-understanding you.
I thought you wanted to READ a book ON THE READER, while charging.
Nornal "Connected to computer" results in you computer gaining 1 (or 2 if SD card in place) "drives".
You can use these, just like any other drive: Read or Write.
Of coarse, your PEz only can work with the files listed on your users guide (updated). So you can technically
store an AVI (movie), but the PEz will ignore it
