3G card removed...no problems so far
This is obviously only interesting for the non-US nook owners, if at all:
The nook never even managed to connect to the local cellphone network (Switzerland), let alone provide any sort of function. However, I did keep hearing the GSM "chatter" when close to sensitive speakers, like when a cellphone connects to a tower. It seems reasonable to assume that this could eat into the battery life quite a bit when not in flight mode (similar to a cellphone's battery discharging quicker in areas of bad reception).
So I removed the original SIM card completely, and didn't replace it with anything. On starting up, I was half expecting some kind of error message about the missing card, but no. So far, everything seems to be working just fine.
Are there any consequences I might have overlooked?
