I would consider it a bonus. Currently, I buy all my nonfiction and select fiction authors in hardcover only. If I were given a free ebook copy with the purchase it would not change my buying habits, only my reading method. I would still buy the hardcover but read the ebook version.

I only buy throwaway ebooks -- that is, fiction that I read once and then delete. Consequently, I only spend a few dollars at most on an ebook.

My reading habits are such that my hardcover purchases outpace my ebook purchases probably by 3:1. Within the past 3 weeks I purchased 7 hardcovers and 0 ebooks, so I would love to be able to buy a hardcover and get a free ebook copy.
