For a reference book, or a textbook, probably. For fiction, probably not.

Note that Baen has done some experiments along these lines - some of their hardcovers had a bound-in CD containing the full text of the book (usually along with 20 or 25 other books from the same or related authors) and at one point some of their paperbacks had a promo code in the back that could be redeemed for the current month's Webscription (4-7 books).
