Funny but inaccurate at this point... with Win7, Microsoft played hardball with OEMs this time around- understanding that pre-installed software (the fault of OEMs and not MS) has been a source of bloat, speed-issues, usability, and even stability problems- required OEMs NOT install software UNLESS they paid MS a licensing fee (or basically, a cut of the money OEMs were getting from the developers of the trial software).
Windows 7 has been phenomenally successful much in part due to MS's ability to accept their past mistakes and move on.
