what is it with cats and shoes ? little bug also loves them. she likes to stick her paws in them, but she's too small to move them very far. and she used to hide things in them. maybe she she's a delusional kleptomaniac and thinks she's father christmas.

(that'll be 300$, please, bug. i don't accept tuna or tchèques.)

Very strange weather we had yesterday. Just after lunch the sun came out (for about 15 minutes as it turned out) so I decided to take a walk. By the time I was ready to leave after some light housecleaning, the snow had started again but it was only a few flakes, so I went to the park anyway. By the time I reached the top of the hill the park is on, the snow had turned into a kind of light hail, and then there was thunder. Then the snow started falling in earnest. I started back home and managed not to slide down the concrete path (actually I walked on the grass to avoid humiliation), and when I took refuge in my neighborhood café, I was covered in snow. Not usual weather in this area. Now it's just ordinary, cold and depressing February weather, with some light snow (not ordinary) added for fun.

that WAS thunder !!! i heard it, and i thought to myself "that's odd, that really sounded like thunder. no, it can't be..." we had a real snow tempest here yesterday about 11 o'clock, i think. giant snow, swirling around the courtyard. then it turned into normal snow, then it stopped. and when i came out of the circus last night it was snowing again, and la villette park was completely white.

Personally I'd be more than happy to have winter now. Our days are scorchers. Today it was around 42°C and yesterday around 49°C! At least in the winter you can always dress more warmly, not to mention snuggling up with a good book in bed.
