It would be fair enough to say something like:
"I feel that it's wrong to copy a book illegally just because you can't obtain it where you want or at the price that you want."
If you want to avoid getting mad at each other, best not to call people names.

Just out of curiosity, if it's not theft then what is it and what is the difference between civil and criminal offence?
