First: The Green LED is an "activity" LED (which flickers Red-Yellow-Green) while charging
There is a Battery icon on the status bar at the bottom (not visible when reading some formats. Press Menu, to see., Exit to resume reading)

When the PEz thinks it is fully charged, the icon changes to something that looks like a power cord plug.

Look at the Manual (users Guide) that was supplied installed in the Main storage to see if it appears different from the book in question.

I too, set my system font to IBOOKN (see settings)
