Nokia hit the hardware space quite early (e.g. N800, N-Gage) but they utterly failed on marketing why we want one and their ecosystem never fleshed out like we're seeing Android's ecosystem grow. It seems they have a bit o' Microsoft in them, in bringing neat things to market but failing to execute in various ways.
