I don't believe that you have to have a Sony Card. The Sony Rewards site has several clubs and the Silver Pocket 300 is their Deal of the Week, but there are only 25 left (while supplies last). Just by being a member of one the several Sony Rewards Club sites, such as the Wheel Watchers Club. I've already earned over $50 in Rewards dollars from being a part of the Wheel Watchers and Sony Pictures Television Clubs, which I plan to put towards my next Reader. If the 300 was what I was interested in, this would be a fantastic deal. For Sony lovers, this site is worth checking out!
