You are forgetting the case when buying a books and reading it 10 years later or so. This you have to do since books do not stay in print.

Do you honestly think anyone will ever be prosecuted for removing DRM for personal use? And in regards to the issue of whether tools will be available in 50 years time, the solution is easy: remove DRM now and back-up your files.
There are good reasons to oppose DRM, such as the fact that many other customers are ignorant of it and
they might be hurt. But anyone who knows what DRM is is likely capable of removing it and, IMO, should just do so and stop whining that it is restricting their use.
