I am not sold on Apple either. Ever since Steve got the new liver (may it serve him well for many years!) things got a bit weird over there.
Engadget published a bit of a flash-back on Steve's comments on
DRM from 2007:

It doesn't look like Steve subscribes to the same philosophy when it comes to electronic books DRM.
