Perhaps I am wrong, but I don't think we will know for sure until people start buying the iPad. But in general I don't like Apple. Then again I don't like Microsoft either, but with my job I don't have much choice but to use their software.

Do you know about new feature in iPad, possibly coming to iPhone as well?
It's shared storage folder, accessible to all programs from App Store. It's well documented in API. If Apple was planning to lock the content away from iPad, why would they supply such a feature?
Besides, it's not Microsoft - they're making money on hardware as well, so if you buy iPad and use it with other e-book programs, they still profit.
