To start with, Refurb does not mean defective and repaired. Most are customer returns or never shipped to a customer - cases of buyer's remorse.
I prefer buying computers from Dell refurb - I have never gotten one that was other than unused.
New PRS-600s come in a factory sealed package. If it is an open package it should not have been sold as new.
