Welcome to MR, PeteS I'm sorry your first post is about a problem.

I haven't borrowed any library books yet, but the Wiki page for the Sony Troubleshooting Guide (that is still being put together) has a section on borrowing library books. Maybe this will help. Please let us know if it works or not.
