Personally, I don't have much use for flashy gunk in an ebook (or tablets in general

). However....
1) Apple isn't particularly innovative when it comes to things like file formats.
2) Hopefully, some sort of "tap on a word, get a dictionary/encyclopedia entry" should be included. That's not really part of the file format anyway, that's the software (which can always be updated).
3) Similarly, unless ePub works totally differently than mobi, you should be able to tap on a linked word and have it take you to another part of the book (e.g. a map).
4) I also assume that if some sort of image zoom isn't in the 1st iteration, it can be easily added (again, not really a file format issue)
I.e. it's better to wait until you have the product in your hand and used it for a few days prior to evaluating its capacities....
