Doesn't this happen now? with physical copies?

Big publisher release a book from a big author at $20 and eventually lowers price to $9 and then $6 etc

Small publisher releases straight away at $6.

End result neing the small publishers are still small publishers.
the market shows us that people will pay $15 for a new book by a big author.

BoB and fictionwise do those prices NOW and are still in business.
