Hello from Taiwan
Hi. I'm a Canadian expatriate living in Taiwan. Despite living in the heart of tech manufacturing, I'm not the most up-to-date person.
I was introduced to ebooks when I was still in Canada. I saw a guy reading an ebook on some sort of device on the bus. I asked him a bit about it, did some research on the Internet when I got to work, did some browsing in the stores on my lunch break, went back to work and did more research, then bought a Handspring Visor Deluxe after work that very day. That was back in 2002. After that, I bought a Sony Clié PEG-SJ22, and I now have a Palm Tungsten E2.
I'm not a heavy user. I mainly use it for reading ebooks. I read almost 90% of my books on my PDA. The other features on my PDA are more of a secondary nature to me.
I currently use MobiPocket for most of my ebook reading, although I do have eReader and iSilo on it as well.
I'm here to read up on what else is available in the world of ebooks. I've heard Mobipocket is dying (dead?), so I'm exploring my alternatives. I know I'll have to get a new device in perhaps two years, so I'm looking at what devices and software are available. I'll probably go with a smartphone as opposed to a dedicated reading device, so I may have questions in that regard.
Other than reading, my other hobby is coffee and espresso. I'm also trying to get into taking better pictures on my little compact digital camera. If anyone knows a good website for beginner photography or compact cameras, please let me know.
EDIT: I have Stanza and Calibre on my PC as well.
