It's called the
hero pattern. If you thought other Fantasy books are bad in this respect, check out the New Testament. Of all other classical heroes,
Jesus Christ only has to let Oedipus and Perseus before him, beating Hercules, Robin Hood and many others of the greats. And you cannot really blame him for not marrying a princess. I've always considered marrying a weak point in the pattern; it means you have your priorities divided, and though that may make for a nicely tragic hero (Spiderman, anyone?), it doesn't make for a classic hero IMHO.
Having said that, the most likely candidate for dying and then resurrecting is Harry Potter himself. (If that hasn't already happened: I've only read the first book. Of course now you are going to argue that that already happened in the first book.)
