When pasting from another program, try to use Paste Special instead of Paste - and select Plain Text. Mostly cuts out the problem you're having, which is basically paragraph and character formatting coming across from the other program

Something else to watch for when cutting and pasting: the styles in use can cause a change in the text's formatting (such as when the "Normal" style of the place you're pasting the text to is different from the "Normal" style of the place you're taking the text from).
