I always find it annoying when news stories try to explain the hip new abbreviations used by teens today, when if you research it, many of the abbreviations (like BRB, ROTFLMAO) date back 20 years or more in Usenet or IRC or similar. All those parents would have known the terms as teens, too-- if they hadn't grown up computer illiterate.
I've been using the "darknet" since before any of today's teens were born.
