MP3 on PB 360?

Greetings,

I was fooling around with some new themes on my Pocketbook 360 and I noticed that some of them included an icon for the music function included with the PB301. Out of curiosity, I clicked on it and found that it brought up a music player that quickly detected the mp3s on my sd card. Nothing much seemed to happen when I selected mp3s from within the player. When I selected an mp3 from within the file manager, however, I got a little music note icon at the bottom of the screen, seemingly indicating that the mp3 was being played. My question is: does the PB360 have the hardware capabilities to play mp3s or is this simply vestigial firmware? Woud it be possible to hook up a usb to 3.5 mm audio adaptor and, perhaps combined with some hackery of the firmware, listen to mp3s?
