Well, not completely because iBooks won't have every book in existence, probably not even a fraction of what people want to read, so ultimately people who read more than 1-2 books a year, or who want to read specific books, and not just what's on bestseller list will have to find all those other readers and options - and when they have found them and familiarized themselves with them, the convenience may count less than prices.
But in general I agree with you, and certainly Apple wants to sell as many iPads as it can. Besides, the news about shared folder feature makes it quite probable that this time Apple will choose to allow competition of e-book formats and readers on iPad. Which I'm happy about
