I think you need to ignore the editorial content of the writers on the tech gadget sites. I spend a lot of time there myself, but....
Have you seen pictures of those guys working? They have a laptop and one or two smartphones, per blogger. They are writing
'Apple has given me no reason to step out the door with the iPad' - well of course not, come up with a list of functionality and between their smartphones and laptop they are already carrying gear that probably covers 100% of functionality.
But you are probably not a writer for a tech gadget site - so come up with your own list versus gear you currently own and see if there exists room for an iPad in your life.
