The iPad sounds like a well-thought out device, and it's very tempting. But the one reason I would not buy the iPad, would be if it doesn't support Flash.
I don't do extensive browsing on my iPhone, so the lack of Flash is not a deal-breaker. But the iPad is a different device, and the lack of Flash would be unacceptable, to me (and I suppose, many others).

It doesn't support flash. Some people thought it might because the screens of NYT showed flash video, but it turns out those were modified. The new screens shows the "no plugin" element where videos should be on NYT pages.
