I don't want to argue, but a point of fact is in order. The iPad can be used for document creation and work, either with the touch keypad, or with the keyboard dock, or with a Bluetooth keyboard. And Apple will have the iWork suite on the iPad.

I also think people should hold off on the thoughts that the U1 will be an anything killer just yet because the interface, and possible limits, of the tablet portion are not known. It has a shiny interface, but has it been so cut down and locked down as to not allow you to do real work while in tablet mode? Dunno. We know the Win7 base will be good though.

Oh, and $1000, no thanks. If I'm going to spend $1000, I'm going to pony up a bit more and get a nice 13" MacBook Pro.
