I am wondering if the above poster is misusing multitask, I am not understanding 'multitask with other apps' ? Are you talking compatibility?

I am going to get an ipad, I hate having too many gadgets, right now I have an ipod touch, and a mac (mainly my wife's machine). I wanted something small and maintenance free to just listen to podcasts, stream the bbc, and do emails on, and the ipod touch fit this bill nicely.

I also have stacks of paper I would love to be able to have with me at all times, for reference and such, I have had an iliad, prs-505 and prs-900. They all were fairly lackluster in their pdf displaying (for my needs and IMHO).

While I love eink for a display, and the long battery life, the ability for me to consolidate my gadgets down yet further, and properly display pdfs in near real size is the deal-maker for me.

Multitask? I rarely do, I am more linear by nature
Reading on lcd - I will have to accept this downside

I have found that apple products (don't get me wrong, I dislike the closedness, as I prefer linux/unix really) are better than the sum of their parts, as they look to the whole experience of the product, and that is their secret sauce, the price for that kind of experience delivery/control unfortunately seems to be a somewhat closed ecosystem.

I dislike it, but I have grown to want my computer to just do the things I need, but do them well with little extra fuss or administration.

</diatribe>
