I think it's good to have a wait and see approach until the product is actually out to see if Apple will allow iPad specific book apps to be added. They historically have been reluctant to let in apps that compete with 'native Apple' apps at least the ones they feel take a piece of their money.

Wait and see is good but you wont need 'ipad apps' existing apps can be updated to allow them to also suit the iPad resolution, that wont mean a different app just one app that works on both resolutions.

Actually it will 100% read disinfected ePub(via a kludge) as i can easily convert a didinfected ePub to html or txt or a word doc even.
so all someone would need to do is release a nice app that reads those formats in a reading friendly way. yes that would involve conversion but it is doable.
PS I dont for a second think taht will be neccesary as stanza etc will all be fine imo.
