The joke on the name is particularly American, in that the Stayfree Maxi-Pad is a fairly popular brand of Women's Sanitary Towel over there. This is why the twitter hashtag iTampon is the 2nd highest rated at the moment. Also, culturally, the iPad was a joke long before the actual device was made public, due to the MADTV sketch. So this is a double whammy. They picked a name with conscious knowledge of it already being a joke, and a name that they knew would provoke derision.
Now, would you like me to explain the joke about the Englishman, Irishman and Scottish man walking into a bar, or any other joke for that matter, seeing as you sucked all the fun out of this thread already? I can do a full Freudian deconstruction on jokes and their relation to the subconscious if you like, I did write a few quite humourless papers on that topic after all.
Apple are releasing iModerator next. What it does is suck all the fun out of everything you visit on the web.
