tlrowley: Please try generating a catalog with '.' (no quotes, just the period) in the regex for exclude_tags field in the EPUB/MOBI dialog. That eliminates genres from the build.
If that works, then there's an issue with your tags. The next release will have improved diagnostics to help me track it down.
